“I just wanted to tell you how much I am enjoying your book and your philosophy about exercise. It makes so much sense and I can see using it to supplement and/or replace our current approach to working with many…if not all….clients.” – Deborah Tregea M.Ed, Senior Exercise Physiologist University Fitness Center, Penn State Hershey Medical Center

“This is an excellent book for anyone wanting to improve their fitness levels from athletes to those, like me, looking to reverse the ageing process. The preamble gives an excellent guide to how hormones are so important to how we feel and perform and can be used as a building block for improving fitness and energy levels. These simple explanations are backed by scientific studies and in turn this knowledge is used by Campbell to construct a comprehensive programme designed to stimulate the generation of Human Growth Hormone by a series of exercises. The book is readable and the exercises and tips are designed to provide you with maximum benefits whilst also being a source of encouragement.
Forget the diet books and buy this if you want to get improved results from understanding what is happening to your body.
This is an American author so the understanding on hormones etc is way ahead of us here in the UK but it is well explained and easily understood.
No doubt the video / CD will follow in due course.” – Richard M. Cattrell, Leicester UK

“I had an injury that sidelined me for a month. Although I was in good shape before, I gained a little weight and lost a lot of muscle tone during that time. When I was able to get back to the gym, I was running 7 to 10 miles a day and eating an absolutely perfect diet. Despite all my efforts, I couldn’t seem to make any progress with getting back to my original size and weight. It was very frustrating for me since I was working so hard to do everything right. What was once easy for me was now very difficult and I could empathize with my clients who have trouble losing weight.
After reading your book, I immediately put your advice into practice with amazing results. After only 8 times of doing the sprint 8 workout (over a 2 week period) I discovered that I had lost 10 1/2 inches overall and dropped about 7 pounds. I know it probably sounds hard for some people to believe. I wouldn’t believe it myself if it hadn’t happened to me. But now I’m back in my size 3’s and 4’s and feeling terrific.
But even more than that, I have more energy and endurance than I could imagine. Before Sprint 8, I was running 8 to 10 minute miles. I’m now comfortably running 6 minute miles! I even ran a 5 minute 13 second mile yesterday at the end of my workout!!!I’m so impressed with the results that I’m now recommending your book and program to all my clients. This program really works and it works fast!

“Phil Campbell’s book, Ready, Set, Go Synergy Fitness is a concise, well researched, practical program for people of all ages. After following the level 2 program for 8 weeks, my total cholesterol dropped from 221 to 157, and my LDL (bad cholesterol) dropped from 155 to 95. In addition my body fat percentage has dropped. My two teenage boys and I have noticed that our endurance and strength have increased substantially. My patients as well as my family and I have found his book, along with the Internet based aids to be a straightforward program that is easy to follow. Because of it’s principle based teaching and structured guidelines, I highly recommend this book to my patients, and they receive reproducible results.

“Simple thanks are just not enough to explain how I feel about my signed copy of your book. As a retired Chiropractor, due partly to loss of physical function and inability to perform my job without pain, the topics hit home with a blistering realism.
I have not been able to even walk enough to get to an even minor aerobic workout for years. I have awakened during the night before, worried and knowing that physically my health was deteriorating. Weight gain issues and uncontrolled hypertension were waging war on my system internally and externally. I have gotten out of bed, put on my workout clothes, made a proclamation that I was going to walk regardless of the pain.
As devout as my convictions were, I physically failed miserably and could not even walk 50 yards without sever back and leg pain. Surgical options, due to the severity of my diagnosis and the failure rate of the procedure that I need, were not realistic for me unless I became completely disabled and unable to ambulate.
I started the program, and in addition to altering my diet, I have virtually eliminating refined sugar, and I have tiptoed into your program over the last 3 weeks. I am truly amazed at the results in such a short period of time and I have just barely scratched the surface.
While my level of improvement doesn’t even begin to approximate that of a modestly fit individual, it is miraculous when compared to my beginnings. I have lost about 15 lbs. My joint pain has virtually been eliminated except for some occasional hip and leg pain that occurs when I stand in one spot for a protracted period of time (generally a sign of spinal stenosis). My energy level has skyrocketed; my resting pulse rate has slowed 20%. I just feel better physically and mentally. – Wayne Key

“As a professional acrobat and All-American gymnast, I was excited to learn so many new tips on health and fitness at Greta Blackburn’s Fit Camp. I especially loved reading guest speaker, Phil Campbell’s book, Ready, Set, GO! Fitness.
The Sprint 8 workouts are extremely efficient and beneficial to any athlete. They supplement my training and helped me get in the best shape of my life. I highly recommend Sprint 8 to anyone who wants to look and feel younger. The best part about it is the workouts are so efficient. You don’t have to spend hours in the gym. You just have to challenge yourself to get faster. I love the fact that I can set new goals and feel younger with every stride!” – Sarah Harding, Ms. Fitness USA 2006 http://www.sarahhardingfitness.com

Very rarely, a book comes out that everyone can trust absolutely as a guide to achieving an optimum state of exhilarating health! This is NOT a book telling you how to become so muscular you’ll just wow everybody. What the book clearly explains is how you and I can stimulate our body to make more of the substances that cause our ten systems to work as they’re supposed to – not to continue to diminish every year of our life. The author presents the results of his thoroughly academic and experiential research in the very clearest writing, with illustrations that make certain everyone understands what he means to convey.
After having purchased several copies of this unusual book for gifts, the recipients were so enthusiastic about it that I decided to take Mr. Campbell’s advice. The simple activity of using my ConceptII rowing machine three times weekly for the time required to stimulate my own HGH output caused me to enjoy two excellent results: I began losing weight and I felt more energetic. (I’d used the machine for three years, and I already knew the activity was very beneficial. I had not, however, used it for precisely the time and in the way specified by the author.)
After four months, I had an appointment with my endocrinologist, who’d tested me several times for hormone levels – which were quite low. I’d just thought I was getting on in years and thus slowing down. The doctor prescribed a daily patch years earlier, which made a very noticeable difference. After this blood test for hormone levels, the doctor asked what I’d done to get my HGH and testerone levels higher. Bioavailability and uptake had both improved sufficiently that he decided to discontinue the patch for ninety days, when I’ll be tested again.
Ready, Set, Go…is not the usual exercise book illustrating standard exercises and warm-up recommendations. What sets this book apart from all other health-exercise books is its explanation about revving up the different divisions of a natural system. The endocrine system, which is the body’s manufacturer and monitor of extremely powerful chemicals called hormones, is what Mr. Campbell has researched and found to be the foundation, the beginning of robust good health. The body can do nothing without them. We could not grow, endure stress, work, reproduce, or even live. Mr. Campbell’s research has discovered and codified ways to optimize the endocrine system – so we CAN work, endure stress, enjoy greater vitality (oh, yes!), etc.
There is a bonus to this optimization, beyond really heightened body functions. The feeling of exhilaration and ebullience that always comes with greater endocrine function really makes it possible for those who want it to achieve a harder body – even if one is, lets say, over fifty.
If someone is like me – lazy and often not so motivated to work my body – Mr. Campbell’s advice is the most thoroughly researched and most clearly presented I’ve encountered. I wish I could meet the man.

“I first read about your program in Outside magazine. I had been running, but hadn’t had any of the benefits I expected from running. My tone wasn’t improving, my weight stayed the same. When I read the Outside article, I immediately checked the book out from the library to learn more, then bought my own copy. I can tell a big difference in my energy and in my engagement with life, in addition to better muscle tone, endurance, speed, and weight loss. Thanks for your wonderful plan.” – Karen Minton

If you have reached a weight loss plateau,
Phil Campbell’s new book may be exactly what you need to pump up your fitness routine. Even if you don’t know the first thing about exercise, this book will help you map out a fitness plan.
The book is wonderfully geared to adults of ANY age. Phil is 50; he has proven that you don’t have to be 20 years old to get healthy and look fantastic.
Some highlights of the book include five different fitness plans, the Sprint 8 Workout, and pictures of the recommended exercises. He also gives specific advice on how to keep your fitness routine working for you even after you’ve stopped working out.
Phil backs up everything he says with references to scientific research. There isn’t one bit of advice that he hasn’t backed up with a research reference. He has done his homework and it shows.
I’m using Phil’s second level fitness plan and applying much of the advice in his book. (I’ve applied his plan to my home workout – I’ve never set foot in a gym.) I have discovered that I actually do have muscles in my abdomen! Write to me and tell me that his Sprint 8 Workout doesn’t leave you totally exhilarated! Renee Kennedy, Editor NutriCounter

Ready, Set, Go! Synergy Fitness for Time-Crunched Adults is the fitness book for us middle-aged baby boomers. It focuses on the natural re-energizing of our bodies growth hormone production, which is critical for anti-aging.
The instructions take into account all levels of fitness and non-fitness. It is sensibly written and has an immense amount of research data to back up everything it advises.
Where this book is different from many is in its focus on the intensity of exercise which is required to see results and in the importance of planning and timing. This guide takes a whole-body and a varied type-exercise approach to fitness.
The author is a highly qualified expert who gives out trustworthy, knowledgeable guidance. This is like having your own personal trainer. – Bob Spear

This book has made a positive difference in my life. The Sprint 8 program plus a little resistance training has helped me lose 30 pounds and 4 inches off my waist. I’m 43 and can now run the 200m in less than 28 seconds. My first time on the 200m was 34s. The guys on my U19 soccer team don’t have the flexibility or speed that I have. Go figure. It works!!!

The book was referenced by Dr. Mercola as a thorough guide to peak fitness. Regrettably, the cover emphasizes the cosmetics of health while the content itself is a serious piece of work outlining the myriad elements of physical health and fitness. The details and references are offered in an integrated, clear and interesting format that summarizes the findings of sound research.

I got this book for my boss who is a chiropractor and he raves about it and how it helps with the human growth hormone. He talks about it constantly and recommends it to all our patients.

The growth hormone inducing aspect of this book is what earns it five stars, the rest of the book is decent basic fitness stuff. The growth hormone inducing method is effective, working just like the book says. It really delivers. In two months I went from 195lbs. to 173lbs., losing my fat belly, while eating more than usual due to protein requirements of the exercise. The growth hormone inducing method melted off 20+lbs of fat while I ate good and plenty, adding lean mass. I was complimented on my looks and was told I looked younger by people I hadn’t seen for a while, and surprised people who thought I was younger than I was. I am very glad I bought this book, the practical knowledge it gave me has improved my life.

I have just finished reading this book. However, I had run across information online about the Sprint8 program a couple of months ago and have been utilizing it for the past few weeks. I highly recommend the book and the Sprint8 high intensity interval training program. You see some results pretty quickly. The book provides a good background for this type of training.

I assumed this book was just about the theory of High Intensity Interval Training. That just scratches the surface…
am deeply enjoying this book as it covers nutrition, sleep habits and the conditioning that is beneficial in getting the most from the program outlined in the book. I have had previous exposure to some of the ideas and research covered in the book but there is a lot that I was not aware of the scientific testing or research used to prove the message and methodology that is outlined in this book. Very good read and easy to follow as I am currently implementing some of the items discussed.

Excellent explanation of a growing trend toward maximum results for minimum time invested at high intensity.
For years, many of us have gone through the motions of moving, but not improving. The “Sprint 8” component is especially impressive and must be experienced to fully appreciate.

I enjoyed “Ready, Set, Go! Synergy Fitness for Time Crunched Adults” by Phil Campbell. It was easy to read, motivating, and contained some great information on how to synergize your metabolism, cut body fat, and tone and build muscle. Campbell, 50 years old when he wrote the book, aims the text at the aging population. Being 45 now, I wanted to see what he was writing about, and I’m very glad I did. While I include a lot of what Campbell teaches in my own workouts, I’m modifying what I do a little to try his “Strategic Fitness Plans.”
I think the information and workouts in this book compliment martial art workouts very well, and in fact Campbell has a martial art background. I would encourage any athlete, recreational, competitive, martial art or otherwise to think about incorporating the ideas and training methodologies and routines that Campbell writes about into their own fitness program.
The book is divided into three main parts: 1. Ready. 2. Set. 3. Go. The first part, Ready, contains chapters that focus on your fitness hormone (Human Growth Hormone or HGH), maximizing fitness hormone release, redefining age, and target zone training. This part explains the “Why” behind the workouts Campbell teaches. The goal being to design workouts and a fitness plan that maximizes natural HGH production in your body to help cut fat, build muscle and increase performance.
Part 2, Set, includes chapters on building your fitness strategy, flexibility fundamentals, energizing endurance. Accelerating HGH release with anaerobics, plyo-power, and tactical weight training. These chapters explain the different kinds of exercises Campbell suggests you implement into you overall fitness strategy. They explain the five elements that you need to incorporate: Flexibility training, Endurance training, Anaerobic training, Power training, and Strength training. Sample exercises are illustrated and explained for each category. I will note here that one of the keys to HGH release is the Anaerobic training, or “Sprint” training. I do like that Campbell has you start slowly and build up with this kind of training if you are new to it. The “sprints” a couple time s a week are key to HGH release, but all five elements are important to your overall fitness strategy.
The final part, Go, contains sample strategic fitness plans depending on your level of fitness. There are five phases, and once you determine where to start, you can build up through the more advanced plans. I also really like how he includes the small section on commitment near the end, and encourages you to sign an 8 week commitment to get started. It really is your commitment to fitness and your consistency of working out that will make a difference in your fitness and health.
Overall, I feel this is a good fitness book for those in their 40s, 50s, or older. Incorporating the fitness plans outlined here will undoubtedly help a person lose fat, gain muscle, and perform better. All you need to do is get Ready, Set, Go!
